Online Opera

In 2021, Nina joined Online Opera project Scenic Opera as a guest artist.

Her first project for Scenic opera was to record Mrs Waters' aria: What if I were young again? (The Boatswain's Mate) for their "Arias Explained" series. It was recorded with pianist Neil Crossland in August 2021, released in September 2021, and the video is wonderfully narrated by Wendy Silvester.

More exciting projects will be published soon.

The second half of the evening was a production of the Mozart medley A Night in Vienna. Set in the reception area of the Vienna Grand Hotel and including songs from Mozart’s most famous Operas: Don Giovanni, The Magic Flute, Cosi fan tutte and The Marriage of Figaro.

Two men vie for the love of one woman and use all the tricks in the book to win her. Aidan Coburn, Nick Dwyer and Nina Kopparhed are all wonderful and the English libretto by Pamela Schermann is at times hilarious. I particularly loved the updated Don Giovanni excerpt where his past conquests are revealed by scrolling through his Facebook! Brilliantly acted by all three performers and Aidan Coburn’s singing is so beautiful I was almost moved to tears.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening

VoiceArc: Don Giovanni

Role: Donna Elvira

Saturday, May 12th, 2017: Broughton St Mary's Church, Edinburgh

Description:

"The prison spaceship moves forward into the void. Don Giovanni's brain, all that is left of the evil lothario after a million years, is scheming. If his plan succeeds he can exude an emanation and create the havoc of old.  Don Pedro stands at the helm and a shiver runs down his spine as he suddenly worries for his daughter Donna Anna...but she is safely in stasis.  Or is she?"

VoiceArc return with their unique take on their third of W. A. Mozart's Da Ponte operas: Don Giovanni.  The Don and his fellow characters are brought together on a prison spaceship in a new and exciting reworking of the concept, but the music, libretto and the singing is, as always with VoiceArc, faithful to the original Mozart and Da Ponte masterpiece.
